Honestly, it’s a few things at once. 

It’s a friendship community and gifting brand, but it’s also about connection, humor and being able to show up as yourself. We created it because we know how much it can mean to find people who really see you, whether that’s your best friend, your sister, your daughter, your colleague who became family or someone you’re just beginning to get to know.

We make gifts that are meant to feel personal, not random. Something that makes you think, “That’s so her,” or, “She’s going to laugh when she sees this.” And then there’s the community side of it, because Salt & Spice Collective isn’t only about buying something and sending it on its way. It’s about the making of memories, the inside jokes, the check ins, the “I saw this and thought of you” moments and all the little ways women show up for one another.

We created Salt & Spice Collective because friendship has played such an important part in both of our lives, especially the friendship we found in each other.

We met through our children. They kept talking about one another, so we became curious about this other child they always wanted to play with. Eventually, we set up a playdate. We had no idea where it would lead, and (to be honest) it wasn’t one big, dramatic moment. We just kept talking, kept showing up and somehow, over time, built something that became incredibly important to both of us.

We were also entering what we call our second act (timing is everything, right?!), and we were asking ourselves some fairly big questions about what came next. What did we want more of? What did we want to let go of? What would make us feel fulfilled, not just busy? Salt & Spice Collective came out of those conversations, allowing us to create something meaningful that could help other women feel seen, heard and connected too.

Sarah is the Salt and Jacque is the Spice. (That’s how it started anyway….)

Sarah’s practical, steady and very DIY. Jacque's more expressive, colorful, loves experiencing new things and sometimes a little more likely to say the quiet part out loud. But the truth is, we’re all a bit of both. You can be the calm one in the morning and the person who needs three friends, a coffee and a complete emotional debrief by dinner, and honestly, we’ve all been there.

Salt and Spice isn’t about putting people into boxes. It’s really about being yourself, including the imperfect bits, and finding people who love you where you can emotionally meet them at that time. Not a polished version of you. YOU!

We’re not trying to become another gift emporium where you scroll quickly, choose something that looks cute, and hope it feels right. There’s nothing wrong with needing a gift quickly. Life happens, and I’ve absolutely been there.

But we also believe strongly that it's the thought behind the gift that matters. In a world where almost anything can arrive at your door tomorrow, choosing something that truly feels like the person receiving it is a little different. Our products are connected to the personalities, humor and shared language behind Salt & Spice Collective. They’re meant to feel personal, not interchangeable. The best reaction isn’t only, “This is cute.” It’s, “You know me.”

And the gift isn’t the whole story, either. The Give & Gather Guide includes not just gift ideas but neat ways of spending time together, making memories and filling your emotional cup, whether that means taking a class, planning a day trip, trying something new or doing something simple that gets you out of the house and back into the world together. Sometimes the best thing you can give someone is your time.

The Collective Corner’s our growing space for friendship, connection and all the little things that make life feel more interesting. It’ll include personal stories, friendship advice, gifting ideas, product news, recommendations, community questions, and the books, shows and other things we’re talking about.

It’s also a place for women to share how they celebrate each other and create connection in their own lives. It’s still growing, just like everything else around here, but the idea is simple. Come for the gifts, stay for the conversations.

The Pulse Check is our friendship code. It gives you a simple way to tell someone how you’re feeling and what you need, without having to write a full essay or explain every little thing.

Let’s be honest, when someone asks how you’re doing, it’s easiest (and often our go-to default mode) to simply say: “I’m fine” when you’re not. It’s like a friend-o-meter, it allows you to say: “You good?” and for her to simply respond with a small, simple image. One that only you both understand and that speaks volumes without saying anything.

Each heart color has a meaning, and each meaning has an action. Sometimes you need advice. Sometimes you need someone to listen. Sometimes you need a coffee, a laugh or a friend to say, “I’m on your side.”
